Villa Petrolo, nestled on a hill in Tuscany in Italy, is one of those venues which ticks all the boxes. It is typically Italian in style and decor (a win for a destination wedding where you’re wanting a slice of Italy!), and the views of their very own vineyard – and church – are to die for. Add in gloriously fine weather, delicious food (I mean… DELICIOUS) and – most importantly – fun-loving people from around the world, and Kristine and Tom’s wedding is basically it!! We shared a preview of their wedding here, and now we’re back with more!
What was particularly wonderful about Kristine and Tom’s wedding is that their guests had arrived in the few days leading up to the wedding day, so they’d been able to get to know each other and enjoy the incredible setting at leisure (tip: debauched night must be at least 2 nights before the wedding to allow for suitable recovery). Thankfully Tom escaped with just a scratch!!
After their sweet wedding ceremony at the villa’s church down the path, guests wandered back in the sun to the villa’s garden, to enjoy bubbles and antipasti under the trees. Kristine and Tom laid on garden games for the guests which went down a treat, and we were particularly impressed with their cornhole board which was made by hand by Tom’s dad and driven down from the UK – major dedication to the cause!
Did I mention the incredible food? Guests (and us!) indulged in a spectacular Italian feast, during which a few sweet speeches were made. It quickly became clear when we arrived in Tuscany that these two were held in high esteem by their international families and friends, and the speeches reflected that.
I’m a bit of a sucker for festoon lights, and the lights strung up outside the villa highlighted the dancefloor perfectly; adding in some sparklers for their first dance made it completely magical! I mean, how often do you get to party into the night, under the stars, with an incredible band serenading you? It really was the best ending to a brilliant wedding weekend! (Not ‘end’ as such… pizza day followed!)
Joey and I then soldiered on to Sicily for a wedding two weeks later, via Siena, Umbria and Amalfi… it’s a tough life hey.
Let’s start with Kristine and Tom’s wedding highlights film…
