Romsey Abbey and Garden Wedding // Introducing Al and Alex

Romsey Abbey and Garden Wedding // Introducing Al and Alex

You know how much I love shooting a relaxed garden wedding… well, this was a very special one indeed.

I’d met both Alex and Al over the years at some of their family and friends’ weddings (a few of which you can see here, here and here!), so I was super happy when Alex got in touch, told me about their engagement and asked if I’d shoot their wedding too!

They met each other at school through their love of hockey and had remained friends into adulthood.  When the time was right, they got together and have been inseparable ever since!!  (As you can probably tell from the photos… so sweet together!)

Al and Alex had been dealt a tough hand over the last year or so; with Al battling a serious head injury (and I recommend following her journey as she shares the truths behind getting through such a challenging time), the wedding plans had been put on the back-burner until the time felt right.

Life is never as straightforward as it seems though, and more tragedy struck the family just two weeks before the wedding.  All I can say is that the following 10 days or so must have been incredibly tough for both the couple and their families, so the wedding day that followed wasn’t quite what they’d had in mind… but yet, it was absolutely beautiful and special in its own way.

There is a quote which says ‘the most precious light is the one that visits you in your darkest hour’, and I know that the bringing together of the Danson-Bennett families on this day, and finding the light in a very difficult time, would have been uplifting for everyone involved.

Al and Alex, you are seriously two very special and lovely peas in a pod… it was such a privilege to be with you both and your families in such a poignant moment in your lifetime; Joey and I wish you many more happy adventures together to come! x

Get in touch if you’d like to talk about photos for your wedding, no matter how big, small or last minute… we’d love to shoot it!!
